Okay, thought I'd post this in the general section to get some feedback from any non-wizzes that happen to be around. Let me know what you think!
---------------------------
While we try to keep rules to a minimum, there are a few basic guidelines that we ask players to keep in mind while using the MUCK:
1. Originality -- While characters and roleplay scenes which are -inspired- by works of existing fiction, movies, and real-life events are allowed to some extent, we encourage players to keep non-original characters and directly fandom-related RPs off of the main IC grid. For instance, playing an original vampire character in the main grid is fine. Playing Lestat or Alucard (or clones thereof) is not. Playing a were-fox or anthropomorphic creature is acceptable, but please refrain from furry-speak (IE: terms like 'fur', 'furry', 'yiff', 'furson', 'furiend', etc.) while you're IC.
2. Godmoding (aka powerplaying or twinking) -- While there is no rule on how powerful your character may be, you are expected to respect other players. Although you may make poses that affect another player's character (IE: one that manipulates, injures or kills them), keep in mind that the affected player has the right to object to the pose, in which case the offensive player must revise or withdraw it. Affected players may also gracefully disregard an outcome in their responding pose if the offending player does not feel like revising his pose. (For example... Player1 poses: Player1 dives forward and chops Player2's arm off. --- Player2 objects, but Player1 doesn't feel like revising -- Player2 poses: Player2 dodges just in time and flies away.) Note that if a player is set PRT (Protected Mode), you must have their permission BEFORE affecting their character.
3. ICA=ICC -- In-Character Actions = In-Character Consequences. While this is a fantasy-themed MUCK in which anything might happen, we ask that you consider the realistic consequences for your character's actions, for the sake of keeping things fair to other players. If your magically inept 6 foot tall knight insults a 60 foot tall dragon, prepare for him to be promptly barbequed and consumed. In other words, please don't abuse rule #2.
4. In-Character Fighting -- Stalemates in fights seem to be a common occurrence on many freeform roleplaying games; people are often reluctant to see their character lose in battle, especially if it is a life-or-death situation. As a guideline, please don't enter a battle unless you are prepared for the possibility that your character will be grievously injured and possibly killed. That is the price for having a brave or reckless character; cowards generally have longer lifespans than heroes. A second guideline is that, should a fight happen to come to a stalemate, another player or wizard (which both players involved in the fight would have to agree on) will be called in to moderate and declare a winner, either randomly or by taking into account the conditions of the fight (at the discretion of the moderator).
5. Adult Content --
• Violence/Gore: When roleplaying scenes of extreme/gory violence surpassing a PG13 rating, players are required to warn those occupying or entering the room so that they may leave if they don't wish to view or participate in such content.
• Language: Swearing (above a PG13 rating) is allowed with two exceptions: First, it may NOT be used against another player as an insult. Joking around with friends is fine, but if the other party takes offense it will be considered an insult (even if you meant it as a joke) so be careful who you choose to swear at. Second, language surpassing a PG13 rating may NOT be used on the New/Public chat channels.
• Sexual Content: Sexual content surpassing a PG13 rating (whether IC or OOC) is not allowed in public rooms or channels, and must not involve minors. Solicitation through pages (or otherwise) is also not allowed.
6. Harassment -- is not tolerated. If someone tells you to leave them alone, please do so. If you feel someone is harassing you, first tell them politely to leave you alone; then, if they persist, you may contact a wizard to help you resolve the situation.
7. Hate -- Any racist, sexist or otherwise blatantly hateful behavior is not acceptable.
